Pai is a small town in Mae Hong Son Province, Northern Thailand. It is part of the Mae Hong Son Loop, which is Rt 1095 from Chiang Mai to Mae Hong Son. The city is named after the Pai River.
Until more recent years, Pai was a virtually unknown tourism option. These days it has developed into a popular, thriving, place. Pai still retains its affordable, rustic feel though, making it popular with backpackers.
When you arrive in Pai don’t limit yourself to guest houses in the town. There are some amazing resorts and guest houses on the outskirts of town as well. One of the wonderful things about Pai is its artist community which you’ll see expressed by numerous locals in the design of their guesthouses.
